About Metis Energy Future

Metis Energy Future is dedicated to fostering sustainable energy development, focusing on renewable resources and innovative technologies. It aims to empower communities through eco-friendly energy solutions for a cleaner, more resilient future.

Let’s experience the Metis Energy Future

Let’s Experience the Metis Energy Future” invites individuals to explore and engage with sustainable energy innovations. This initiative highlights the potential of renewable resources and community-driven solutions, shaping a cleaner and more resilient energy future.

Our Mission

At Metis Energy Future, our mission is to lead the development of sustainable, energy-efficient infrastructure for Alberta’s Metis Settlements, beginning with Paddle Prairie. By building homes that minimize energy consumption and maximize environmental sustainability, we aim to improve the quality of life for Settlement members, reduce long-term energy costs, and support broader climate action goals. This initiative aligns with the NRCan Toward Net-Zero Program, ensuring that the homes we build today are resilient, efficient, and designed for future generations.

Our Vision

Our long-term vision is to foster resilient and self-sustaining communities by adopting and promoting energy-efficient building standards that meet or exceed Canada's climate goals. Through innovative construction practices and local capacity-building, we strive to establish Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement as a model for sustainable development, setting a precedent for energy-efficient homes in remote and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Our Community

Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement

The current project involves the construction of seven new homes, including five detached homes and two duplexes, with a commitment to adopting the National Building Code (NBC) 2020 and the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) 2020 standards. The Settlement has chosen to pursue a minimum of Tier 2 energy efficiency, balancing initial construction costs with long-term energy savings. These homes are designed to provide comfort, lower utility costs, and contribute to the community’s sustainability objectives.
